THE PURPOSE
PLANT is a nine-week series proclaming of the message about Jesus and the Kingdom of God through the story of Scripture.
To hear the proclamation of the Kingdom of God through the story of Scripture, presenting Jesus as the arriving King and calling every person to respond in repentance, faith, and baptism—leading to the obedience of faith.
THE STUDIES
The PLANT studies trace the Kingdom of God through the biblical story, leading toward the announcement of Jesus as King and the call to respond to him.
Week 1 THE KINGDOM ESTABLISHED
God creates all things good, placing humanity in his image to rule the earth on his behalf.
Week 2 THE KINGDOM REJECTED
Humanity rejects God’s rule, comes under the power of sin and death, and the empires of this world become corrupted by a rival ruler.
Week 3 THE KINGDOM PROMISED
God promises a coming King — a conquering ruler and a suffering servant —
two unreconciled portraits the prophets leave for Israel to hold.
Week 4 THE KINGDOM ARRIVES
Jesus enters his world announcing that God’s Kingdom has drawn near, demonstrating its power and calling Israel to recognize its King.
Week 5 THE KINGDOM VICTORIOUS
The King was crucified, raised, and enthroned. Through apparent defeat, he conquered sin, death, and the powers.
Week 6 THE KINGDOM ENTERED
The proclamation of the Good News about Jesus and the Kingdom of God goes out — and every person is called to respond in repentance, faith, and baptism.
Week 7 THE KINGDOM LIVED
Those under the King’s reign walk in the Spirit, live in community, and obey the Lord.
Week 8 THE KINGDOM PROCLAIMED
The King sends his people as the Father sent him, bearing witness to the ends of the earth.
Week 9 THE KINGDOM FULFILLED
The King returns, the dead are raised, creation is made new, and God dwells with his people forever.
